Guns of Brixton
There’s a new Jimmy Cliff record coming out, the first in seven years. This is good news. But the cover of the Clash’s song “Guns of Brixton” is sort of a letdown. This remains the best cover of the classic:
Man in a Shed
I enjoyed this, from the Times, regarding sheds men use for getaways. Man Sheds.
Boston Magazine Piece on BT25
Buffalo Tom Sheehan’s 1986. Photo by Richard Bonanno From my latest post for Boston Magazine: This Thanksgiving weekend my band, Buffalo Tom, will be playing three shows at the Brighton Music Hall (the erstwhile Harper’s Ferry) to commemorate 25 years of existence. We formed in Northampton in 1986 while students at UMass Amherst. Here is …
Matt, Joe, Medfield, Northampton, Buffalo Tom
Buddy, Matt Brennan writes about our late friend Joe and associated stories at this blog, showcasing Joe’s great photography. The latest post touches on the formation of Buff Tom. For the record, the near drowning/attempted murder occurred in Northampton circa 1988.
My Reflections on BT25 for the Boston Phoenix

Also as with such stimulants and addictions, admission is embarrassing. Somehow, linking to my ongoing obsessions both large and small here on my …
Scorcese Meets Harrison
This is the unedited version of a post that first appeared on Boston Magazine’s web page, for which I regularly write about music and my day job marketing and selling real estate. I was born in 1966. By the time I was conscious, the Beatles were a given, their music everywhere. By the time I …
R.E.M. post at Boston Magazine
I forgot to crosspost this here. It was my reaction to the R.E.M. breakup announcement: When I was 16, my evil parents ripped our family from a comfortable existence on Long Island, N.Y., to follow my father’s career to the Boston area. It was honestly the most challenging thing for me to deal with until …
